iPhone 5 / iOS6 and Gmail contacts

Recommended Posts

Ok so, I didn't notice this until today, but when I went to send an email to someone, who I didn't have the email address for them saved in my contacts list, PREVIOUS to iOS6 it would just pull that address up. When I tried today it did not, so I thought this was strange and downloaded the stand alone gmail app. Sure enough pulled up their email address just fine, so I thought it might have been something funny with my google contacts.. So I go into the mail settings and there is no contacts for google.... Not even the option for it. So I deleted my google account and recreated it, but again no option for contacts only mail, calender and notes..

WTF? This used to be there previous to iOS6 and iPhone 5. Or am I crazy?

It's never been an option in the past. You have to set up google sync to load googles contacts over. Google requires exchange for its contacts to be pushed to your phone.

For iOS, refer to the link Tyler posted, the first link.

When you set up google sync, make sure it ONLY does Contacts as exchange likes to rape battery life.
