Nokia announces Australian carrier availability of Lumia 920 and 820

Recommended Posts

It seems Nokia Australia is up to the job, and have released carrier details for their new Windows Phone 8 handsets.

Both phones will support all regular Australian 3G bands, and also Telstra?s 4G bands.Telstra will have a (possible temporary) exclusive on the handset. The Nokia Lumia 820 will however be coming to Optus and Vodafone.

The handsets and accessories will also be available unlocked from retailers such as (Dick Smith, Harvey Norman etc.

Nokia has not announced pricing and release dates yet, but said they will offer more details ?at the end of October 2012?.

I'll stick with Telstra as my carrier but due to their poor support of WP7 (particular the Nodo update) it will be a frosty day in hell before I use another Telstra branded phone!

Yeah, if you can get it unlocked and just pop in your SIM then that's the best thing to do. On the flip side we could be in for faster/smoother update rollouts. MS has said already that they're going to do OTAs so I think that changes things.
