Turning Off MS' Disk Defragmenter Under Services?

Recommended Posts

^ Just disable the Scheduler

Right click on C:\, Properties, Tools tab, Defragment, then turn off Schedule.

What about just turning this off completely:

You can, but if you disable the scheduled task disabling the service is useless. It's in Manual startup anyway, which means it's not started unless something invokes it.

The general rule with Windows services is that if you have to wonder whether it can be disabled, it shouldn't.
