Print spooler keeps stopping - easy fix

Recommended Posts

I ran into a weird problem while I was trying to print documents on my Windows Server 2012. There were all sort of instructions how to fix it, but sadly none of them worked (delete files and folders from here and there, change registry values, reset Internet Explorer's settings, fix permissions, blah blabaty blap..) However, the solution that worked for me was really easy. I hope this helps someone else too.

So, here goes:

Problem description:

Print spooler keeps stopping and the printer won't work (happened to me with Canon MP280)

What's causing the problem? - Avast Antivirus

Solution:

Turn off behavior Shield from Avast (either permanently or only when you're planning to print).
