I want more control over notifications on my S3 - not sure if there is an a

Maybe I can use tasker for all of this but I'm very new to Android / S3 so not sure...

1) I want to be able to put my phone on silent and still hear notifications when listening to music. For example, if I get a text I want to hear that I got it

2) I want to disable the LED notification for everything but calendar, texts and calls. I never usually check my phone as much as I'm doing now since the LED is constantly going off. I'm about to turn it off altogether

3) I want to use custom tones for texts - I don't see any option in the menu for my own tones

Any of this possible?

for texts i recommend you use handcent, it has lots of customization available, from leds to tones to colours of icons and so on. for led for calls and so on you can use blink. it lets you control what activated the led and what colours.

Will handcent integrate with the messages app? Meaning will I see the same texts in both? I would want my current conversations to be in both apps.

And blink - how is the battery drain? I assume it's always running to monitor what comes through

Handscent will replace the app (if you uninstall it, you will still have the default app) and sms's will be available in both. Think of it like a second door into the same room.

You could investigate the LED Flow app on the market for your other notifications perhaps. My gf uses it on her S3 and she loves it.

For the text tones on silent, I'm not sure, I'm afraid.

as mentioned something like Handcent or GoSMS will solve the text tone issue. Remember to turn off notifications in the default app though else you will get 2 notifications for each text you receive.

LED Flow lets you set the colour/blink rate for different alerts. Out of interest what apps are making your LED alert go off? If it is something like Facebook/Whatsapp you can turn off LED notifcation in the app itself.

Not aware of anything that will allow alerts while listening to music if your phone is set to silent
