Twilight Princess is awesome on the GameCube, if you can find it. As well as Wind Waker.

Edit: and Metroid Prime 1 & 2.

Skies of Arcadia Legends for the GameCube, it's my favourite game of all time!

Starfox Adventures is pretty fun too and if you want something a little different then you could try Doshin the Giant. Ohh and Pikmin is awesome, all 3 are all for the Gamecube btw :)

For the Sega Genesis all the Sonic and Streets Of Rage games for starters. Then perhaps other obscure games like Castle Of Illusion, Ghosts N' Ghouls, Desert Strike, etc.

I've still got tons of Sega Genesis games that are in very good condition with boxes and manuals, along with three different types of flash carts. :D

What are flash carts?

Basically it's a rom cart that has flash memory that you can hook up to your computer and copy game roms onto. For legality reasons let's just say that these are used solely for homebrew games and not to play pirated games :p

For the Genesis, the Sonic games are a given, including the CD version if you have the drive along with Spinball which was fun. Phantasy Star IV took up a chunk of my time back then if I remember right too.

Gamecube: Metal Gear Solid The Twin Snakes. Solely because it has a remake of MGS1 with nicer graphics.

Genesis: Earthworm Jim.

There's no real need to save progress, you can speed run Sonic 1 (including getting all Chaos Emeralds) and it usually doesn't take longer than an hour if you know what you're doing. Sonic 3 (and Knuckles) does have Save RAM capabilities fortunately since it's an epic game. :D

As for flash carts, I use mine to play the games I legally own without subjecting the original games to normal wear and tear. Plus my favorite flash cart supports the use of 64+ Game Genie and Pro Action Replay cheats, which does come in handy for testing and game hacking purposes.

Is it possible to skip worlds in sonic like you could in the first few marios?

You might also want a game genie for the sega that way you can get alot of lives and stuff by entering cheatcodes

Another vote for some Streets of Rage on the Genesis - great games :)

Really interested to know what younger kids would make of stuff like the Genesis and the Super Nintendo (some of the consoles I grew up with, amongst others) these days. I wonder if they'd scoff at the primitive graphics!
