Websites I won't be returning to.

The ones that play videos automatically.

I consider it really obnoxious that they take liberties with your bandwidth.

International Business Times (www.ibtimes.com) used to be one of my favourites, until they recently started with this.

Quite a few others automatically play their little video in the upper right corner of the page, while the loading of the rest of the page content lags like crazy.

This practice is rude, and shows contempt for visitors to the site.

Yes, I know I can block the video, but it's the principle of the thing.

Not far behind, are the sites that shove a huge pop-up in your face upon loading.

I know that the Internet is evolving and whatnot, but I refuse to have trash thrown in my face the second I enter the door.

I used to watch russia today until they started advertising. Now you've gotta watch adverts to listen to a completely biased news channel that's bashing your country :s

you guys should get flash blockers, which block any flash from playing unless you click to allow it.

In theory the firefox one is outdated as FF 14 or 15 includes it's own flash-block (although it's disabled by default). It's in about:config somewhere!

Gah I hate autoplay videos on The Age, and to stop them from automatically playing you have to make an account to change the setting - it should be the other way around, with videos stopped by default

I just have a "click to run plugins" setting enabled in chrome...

This. I have it enabled on both Chrome and Firefox.

OP: (*might* still return but only if the article is too interesting)

- sites that will have a list but puts each entry on a freakin' separate page and does not provide a "view all" option.

I agree ads are annoying as hell and why i started to use admuncher which is a paid ad blocker but have also resulted to using adblock plus too because i wanted some ads blocking that admuncher and the dev will not block or help to block, it strange i know, his response was it would break the page blocking them but adblock plus blocks them without issue.

I also use Do Not Track Plus for chrome

YOU?RE BEING FOLLOWED

Everytime you?re on the web, data brokers, ad networks and social networks collect data about you. Everything from what you read, what you click, what you buy is stored in a secret profile about you. Now with DoNotTrackPlus (DNT+), you can stop them.

DNT+ STOPS TRACKING

When you visit a website DNT+ blocks tracking technologies from:

? Seeing and collecting your web activity such as what sites you visit and what you view.

? Putting cookies on your machine that would continue to store information about your Internet browsing.

? Displaying ads with tracking capability, including the annoying ads that seem to follow you everywhere you go.

Oh and a VPN for my tv torrents. Oh and i use YouTube Options for Google Chrome? 1.8.82 too because i want full screen straight away.

I just got into a habbit of pressing 'Don't Play' on news sites.

That way I save bandwidth by not posting whinges for nothing.
