[Hum]

Life at sea — it sounds far away, like a distant lifestyle reserved for Navy seamen, ocean trawlers and submarine captains. But as shorelines recede, populations grow and property-ownership ideas evolve, designers and architects are prompted to re-think how — and where — we live. Many look to the water.

Shaped like domes and flowers, few of these notions of futuristic dwellings will ever go beyond the design stage. However, this doesn’t mean homes that float, submerge or drift on rivers are the stuff of sci-fi.

“Just because a design vision is not built yet, does not limit its potential impact,” says Maria Lorena Lehman, Founder of Sensing Architecture, an online forum for architectural design, science and new technologies. “In fact, by proposing new ways of living, including on the water, architectural design is advanced, and in turn, human life is improved.”

As long as we can purify the salt water using solar energy, as well as not pollute the ocean by dumping trash, it sounds great! Until those rouge waves...

looks cool, but yeah.... Could be dangerous re: storms and rogue waves... Though if its your house, ur likely to just dock it somewhere..... That's an issue too... There is no kind of plan behind where to "house" these houses... Obviously these people can't just float around in the ocean forever w/o docking and buying food, supplies and such... Then if they're in hurricane territory, they'd have to have their entire HOUSE lifted out of the water to protect it from damage... Seems too high maintenance to be something that will catch on, except maybe for the super rich. (Like, BILLIONAIRES, not millionaires)

This would not work at all. Bad storms would F this up in seconds.

A Tsunami out to sea is just a slow undulation of water so you'd be fine. On the coast would be an issue.
