Yeah, it's trying. Larry Page and Sergey Brin over at Google are building self-driving cars and fantastic new wearable computers, but I'm left wondering how Jobs would look at those efforts and find a way to improve them. Scoble doesn't represent Silicon Valley nor does anyone really miss Steve Jobs. We have a lot of innovation and things are moving faster than ever and the only ones who are trying to slow that progress are, are Apple and it's current people who are going by Jobsian emotional outbursts and pettiness legacy. Aside from BS keynotes, not sure what we are really missing. I sure don't miss him at all. He WAS an innovator in his earlier years, but in the last 5 or so years he became a despot who drove the company direction based upon paranoia, greed and ego. Does Silicon Valley miss him? I'd argue that they lament his passing, but he stood firmly in the way of innovation that he didn't control. Aside from Apple Steve Jobs contributed to other projects and industries. Pixar ring any bells? Toy story, that was rubbish was it? From what do know (which isn't much because I never met him and I bet neither did you) the guy was a legend and an arse at the same time. But such tunneled vision of always thinking you are right does create masterpieces at times. It also encourages the likes of Samsung or Google to make their OS / Hardware better just to beat the man that was so easy to hate! He us staying on topic, his posts put states his opinions and just because people don't agree with them doesn't mean he is being immature or trolling. Some need to look up the definitions of both and look at their own comments Job is missed because he knew how to make things happen and make sure products are tested and ready for market with little to no issues. This started failing with the 4s and his health. He hasn't been an innovator for some time. When jobs was healthy, things just worked and there were few problems. That is what people must, Imo.. We might all miss his ability to deliver keynote speeches where he can tell the audience complete nonsense and lies with a straight face but that's not really a good reason. If he'd cured some disease or something like that then fine. But missing a hard nosed businessman selling overpriced goods? Now, here I am, a few years later, a little more wiser, and seeing the state of things... I gotta say, I do kind of miss him being around. Don't think Apple is Apple without them.
