why do a lot of games have different ratings in different consoles?

Recommended Posts

Lately I've been reading reviews for Resident Evil 6 a game i want to buy, one thing that hit me, was that the game has different ratings for different consoles (ain't it supposed to be the same rating for both consoles), i'm wondering is there a difference in the game, i have a PS3 and a 360, But i don't know what console to buy it for.

Excuse my English

Different countries have different rating systems. It could be just that. i.e. Some websites use ESRB, some use PEGI, some use BBFC. :0

For Resident Evil 6 the ESRB is M (17), PEGI is 18, and BBFC is 18

What kind of rating are you reffering to?

I mean, the review ratings? or the age ones?

Reviews rating, different websites have different game ratings

Ooh you mean review ratings...

Well of course the ratings are different. The actual game may be the same but the way it works and how it plays is different on each system.

e.g. A game that looks and runs good on an Xbox 360 might look and run somewhat worse on the PS3 Or a common complaint with recent PC games is that the games aren't tailored for PC (e.g. there's very little configuration options, or the graphics look as if they're designed for an Xbox 360).

I remember when Borderlands came out there was this argument that it wasn't designed for PC gamers and often the interface or the field of view didn't look so good. And that the graphics were less sharp and more jagged on the PS3 version. Even though the game is the same, there are differences due to how the game is made.

Reviews rating, different websites have different game ratings

That is because of the difference in the specifications of the two systems.

It will be difficult to explain it this way, but if you ever get a chance, check out Dragon Age Origins, on both the systems. You'll know the difference

Also, different sites have different reviewers, which means different view-points and mind-set towards a particular game. So thats another reason why there is a differnce
