Thank you! That makes sooooo much more sense! Between ShMaunder's comment and your clarification I now know that 1/0 = 42.

No, everyone knows that 6 x 9 = 42.

There's multiple ways to get 42?! I always thought it was a prime!

I liked the part where someone explained exactly how to almost divide by 0, and everyone ignored the post and said ridiculous things not even relating to the problem at hand.

I blame social networking.

1 / 0 =

The complex quantity with infinite magnitude but indeterminate phase.

1/0=Undefined.

It will be infinity if x only approaches 0, but is still greater than 0.

So, saying 1/0=infinity is wrong.

Actually, it's not wrong, it's actually:

Complex infinity.

Which is exactly what I said when I posted:

"The complex quantity with infinite magnitude but indeterminate phase."

Hmm, thanks to you, I learnt something. This is higher stuff than what I have studied(still in school). :)

But, yeah it should be complex infinity. I corrected those who were simply saying infinity.

Infinity :)

EDIT: err, complex infinity, I guess after reading the above post

The answer is the meaning of life and all existence.

I thought that was 42...

No, everyone knows that 6 x 9 = 42.

You mean 6 X 7 = 42.

You mean 6 X 7 = 42.

*sigh*, no.

My math classes was a looooooong time ago but i don't think that 1 / 0 is the same thing as 1 divided by a number which tends to zero. And i don't think infinity is the same thing as tend to infinity.

I think we wrote that using those signs : , , , 0+, 0- and other signs like that. And this was not in a standard match classes. It was very theorical.

The number of time 0 fit in 1 is undefinined. Unless i'm mistaken you can't put a value on it. Infinity (not tend to infinity) is not a value it's a concept.

I could entirely be wrong as it was many years ago i'm now working as a web dev ;) I can hardly compute 10/1 now :(

The answer is the meaning of life and all existence.

So: 1/0 = 42?
