Gaming mouse recommendations?

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

My current Microsoft Sidewinder X8 is on it's way out from old age and I'm looking at replacing it, ideally something wireless, big and chunky (My hands are big and chunky for strangling Badgers). Also some buttons for changing buttons for the sensitivity on the fly would be very handy (My sidewinder has 3 setting buttons on top)

I used to do mouse reviews for a website and I can safely say that the best mouse I have ever used when I consider everything together is the Logitech G9/G9x. It might not look like much, but even dismissing the huge list of features, I'll let you know we still have one in heavy daily use that is now 5 1/2 yrs old. When the time came, I picked up a G9x for a new PC without hesitation. It's laser, comes with different hand grips, comes with interchangeable weights, it has dpi settings you can change on the fly, uses multicolored LEDs you can program to your liking, has profile programmability, uses a braided cable which is the best of both worlds (never runs out of power and also doesn't have friction/drag) and it even lets you choose from a smooth-scrolling mousewheel to one with a click with the push of a button.

It's truly a sick gaming mouse that has lasted me longer than any other that I have ever reviewed.

I have an original G9 that I pre order which is still going strong, but I prefered the G500 to it. But the OP said he wanted wireless so I would suggest the G700. Stay away from razer products, imo. Over priced and very cheaply made.

I've got an original mamba and it's fantastic.

That said I have been replacing it with Corsair gear over time.

The funny thing is I would have said don't touch the Logitech stuff >.<

I would suggest the Logitech G700, you could use it wired or wireless I believe, I've had my G5 for god only knows how long now, I remember buying it new for my old XP machine, then when I built this one that runs 7, I kept the mouse, 1 because I like it and 2 because I ran out of money for a new mouse at the time lol, now I just can't be bothered to replace it unless it breaks but like I said, it's very old and still going strong, no reason why the G700 shouldn't

I love my G9x

Love cannot be understated here.

...just avoid the Mamba..eats batterie life like candy, not that great feeling of a mouse, too pricey for what it is and its really annoying to have to charge it on the dock while you want to use your computer..i always kept it hooked up directly to wired, defeating the purpose.

if you want a large mouse, go with a Logitech offering or the CM Storm options =)

Razer quality has a bad rep, but they do make amazing mice with awesome clicking and awesome sensors

Yep, I keep mentioning how unimpressive the G9 and G9x look, but trust us, they are fantastic and last for years.

A have always been a massive Logitech fan, i have had a MX-510, MX-518 (two of these) and a G500

HOWEVER, i recently switched to a Razer Deathadder and it is so comfortable its brilliant, i also like the anti slip coating they put on it. It looks the part to!

I've got the Cooler Master Storm Sentinel Advance II, and I'm loving it!

I had a Razer mouse, it lasted less than a year, the keyboard lasted just over 2 years. I am done with Razer hardware. The only Razer product I will get is that second generation Destructor mousepad they've just come out with.
