Skype 6 - Too Bland

Just checked out Skype 6.0 for Windows, and I'm disappointed by the UI of it. It's got a very metro-ish look to it which I'm guessing is them gearing up for Win8, but there's no more visual appeal in Skype.

I'm contemplating downgrading just because of this. :p

inconsistencies everywhere now since MS didn't change everything, only the main window UI (go figure)

also, why did microsoft get rid of the 'ring on all devices' option? you have to pick a specific device now (was wondering why i wasn't getting a ding when someone IM'd me then i noticed the change)

ya the UI does sorta look like someone **** in a bucket and added a cup of barf. But i'll wait and judge it once I install it on windows 8.

Skype 6? I'm running the BETA for 5.15 and it says there's no newer version.

The only thing that really stands out is that the menu bar is really REALLY inconsistent. It's an old XP style menu whilst everything else is metro'esque.

The menu page is a little out of sorts, but not terribly.

^might have something to do with the RP theme, the menu bar looks just fine in RTM

Skype manage to bloat just fine on it's own, MS is gradually removing some of the bloat.

I can live with the flatter UI. It fits well enough with the Windows Classic theme (which I use at work).

I think it looks better, but I much prefer the design of Skype for the new Windows 8 experience, so I like the direction they're going in.

I think, by the time, they will pay attention for the metro/modern/immersive version only... And I think this process started already.

I installed this from 5.10. I can't even tell a difference in the UI, so it must be only minor changes. Not sure what people are getting worked up about.
