Windows 8 upgrade question: all updates included on Technet download?

Recommended Posts

I am kinda 'nervous' as to install Windows 8 on my main (gaming) PC.

This is partly because the instant upgrade failed on my notebook and I had to do a complete reinstall. On my notebook this wasn't such a big deal, because there is almost no software and data on.

In the case of my main PC this is different, because here all my data, software, programs etc is on it (or USB attached).

My question is... is the download of Windows 8 [8/15/2012] on Technet filled with the latest updates - like the 'General Availability Cumulative Update' release earlier this month?

Or can I better wait up until this "release date" has been changed to a more recent date and (thus?) with some updates included?

There is no "real" need as to upgrade, but it's always nice to have the lastest & greatest OS installed with all speed- and security and other new improvements.

EDIT:

Maybe there are ways as to do instant upgrades via different methods? If so, I'd like to know so I can chose what can be the better option...?

Windows 8 instant upgrade did not install on my netbook. Had to do a clean install. Upgrades often fail when it comes to Windows. Anyways a clean install always been the way to go, if you want to have a fast running OS.

I know the 'best' way is to perform, indeed, a clean install.

However, I don't want to spend a day or so to install all software, games etc on my machine.

So I guess.... it's Win 7 for still some time.

Not that I'm complaining here.... :shiftyninja:
