scumdogmillionaire
I just noticed in my device manager that my video card and sound card are both sharing IRQ 11... i don't want that. But I can't change this setting. It won't let me uncheck the "use automatic settings" box.. how do I fix this? thanks, GG
aco Veteran Posted January 18, 2002 Veteran Share Posted January 18, 2002 I'm guessing that your sound card is in the PCI slot right next to your AGP graphics card. The AGP slot and the PCI slot beside it usually share the same IRQ. If you have a few extra PCI slots (I wish I did :D) try moving the sound card to the next slot over, leaving the one next to the AGP slot free. :)
JustinLerner
If the sound card is in the first PCI slot adjacent to the AGP card what ACO says is correct (usually). The best solution is to move the sound card to different PCI slots although if you are using APM, not ACPI, you can also set the IRQ in BIOS for particular slots. :)
