I'm wanting to improve my photography. Currently i just use the single lens cameras (lenses attached), and i know they are very limited.

Current i have a chance to finally upgrade to a SLR camera. I'm pretty sick of having to replace the cameras due to dust getting inside the lens barrel and on the sensor. I can always clean a SLR camera out, without the need to replace the camera. Also the possibilities to take better quality pictures, with better ISO, and other features would be a huge plus.

My dad got an extra Canon EOS Rebel T2i 18 MP, and is willing to sell it to me for only $400. It's brand new.
Amazon says the camera is $700 so that price alone makes me want to buy it from him.

Almost all of the reviews of the camera i've read said it had GREAT features, especially for the $700 price rage, and i'll only be paying $400, which is even better.

Or do you think i should wait, and get a better camera, or ill this one be perfect?

I take pictures of everything, from people, to nature, to random objects.

thanks

there are no bad SLRs. Really. Just get some good glass and take photos. I have seen people use just a 450D and take better photos than people do with full frame. It is about talent and the eye for a photo. dont worry so much about specs, just go out and shoot photos.

I use the 5D MarkII but for selling prints. I'd suggest before pulling the trigger looking at the 6D coming out or if it is out

The 550d had been my camera for the past two years. Other than weather proofing, it does really well. Good 1st DSLR.

I got the camera today. So far im very impressed, and i've begun to shoot pictures in raw mode only.

So far i've just bee using the auto setting, but soon will practice with manual modes so i can get better pictures.

Only problem im having now is the view finder shows solid colors, but then the picture comes out faded, and such. So i gotta figure out how to make the colors look the way i need, and not washed out.

took this one earlier

$400? :\

I just ordered a Refurb T3i + 18-55mm kit lens for $411..

Then an even better deal came up for a NEW T3i + 18-55mm kit lens + 55-250mm IS lens + 75-300mm lens for $650. Both cameras are on their way, but I'll be sending the refurb back to Canon direct for a full refund and selling the 75-300mm lens to get my T3i+2 lenses cost down below $550.
