Android and cell phone company's

Recommended Posts

So I currently have an iPhone. I'd like to check out android phones again. I was really after the galaxy S3. However that's way to big. My next option was Droid Razr Max. I really do like that phone. However checking it out. Android OS gingerbread 2.3.5...what is up with that?!?! When I left android I had a Droid X that barely got gingerbread. What is the deal with these companies being behind the times? It cannot be that hard. I think android needs to be pressuring phone companies.

If you want a phone that keeps you on a recent version of Android, then you have to go for an unlocked and carrier-free Nexus handset. It's the only way you will always get an update and quickly.

Yeah you'll find in most cases that unless it's a flagship phone you're unlikely to see any major improvements. Unfortunately companies would much rather make more money off new customers with new phones than support and update existing devices. Sucks really, but unfortunately that's the bad side of Android and always will be. There are many good sides to Android don't get me wrong ;).

Nothing stopping you from making a visit to XDA though ;)

It's because the carriers and manufacturers don't realise that brand loyalty is built from treating your customers well... not with contempt.

XDA is the best way to stay up to date imho.

Nexus 4 looks like a tasty bit of kit on a budget however. Tempted to get that for myself as my s3 is the company phone.
