Windows 8 Upgrade Question

I see the Win8 upgrade being sold rather cheap and am considering upgrading both my laptop and desktop. However I plan on getting SSDs later on and will want to do a fresh install for other reasons as well, and I'm concerned whether I will be able to reinstall Windows 8 on a formatted and empty disc.

Let me know if by purchasing an upgrade you obtain the full version that is capable of being installed.

You answer your own question...it's an upgrade copy, not a full version.

Technically you can do it, but per the license you're still supposed to install the old OS first...and then can just wipe the drive during the upgrade install.

Since it's a case where it sounds like both are OEM devices then I'd just install and call the activation line & have them give you the code to do the activation. :)
