LOS ANGELES ? Los Angeles County sheriff's officials say they have arrested a man accused of raping a mentally disabled woman on a city bus.

Sgt. Dan Scott says the suspect boarded the bus with the woman in Culver City, followed her to the back of the bus and forced himself on her Wednesday at about 5:10 p.m.

A lone witness tried to alert the bus driver that the rape was happening, but it continued for about 10 minutes until the suspect stopped and exited the bus.

Scott says the 18-year-old woman has the mental capacity of a 10-year-old. After the alleged rape, she reported the assault to the driver.

Based on surveillance video, authorities say the suspect is a black man who is 5-feet-10 inches tall with a medium build.

Obviously the man did too to do that with a camera on the bus with someone else around. Get jailed.

Arrest made in rape of woman on LA bus

Los Angeles County sheriff's officials say they have arrested a man suspected of raping a mentally disabled woman aboard a Los Angeles transit bus.

Sgt. Dan Scott says a man has been booked for investigation of rape but didn't immediately release the suspect's name or age.

Authorities say the suspect boarded the bus with the woman in suburban Culver City, followed her to the back of the bus and forced himself on her late Wednesday afternoon.

A lone witness tried to alert the bus driver that the rape was happening, but it continued for about 10 minutes until the suspect stopped and exited the bus.

Scott says the 18-year-old woman has the mental capacity of a 10-year-old. He says that after the attack, she reported it to the driver.

... mental capacity of a 10-year-old ...Odd that she was traveling alone.

lol don't confuse mental capacity with being dumb or unable to function (not saying you are but i am not sure what you are getting at) she can would still be able to function, just have a different emotion level and understanding of things and most 8 year olds can go out and get the bus by them selves...

The driver should be arrested too for not stopping and doing something about it.

WTF?

Why the driver should be arrested?

By your logic, should we arrest everyone on the bus for not doing something about it?

It is a tragic event. But let's not blow this out of proportion.

Why did the bus driver not stop. He should not be arrested but he should be punished by his employer. He or she is in charge of the bus and should be responsible that this took so long. Did he not hear a struggle going on?

What is strange about her traveling alone? Even a 10 year old can take a bus to the mall.
