If the 2.5" drives are too small to fit all the electronics in, why not make them 3.5"?

I'm guessing the reason for that is that the form factor is universal, it can be used in laptops and desktops, I agree with you though. However the gist I get from that article is that they're currently limited by what the controllers can handle more than anything else, but by this time next year it sounds as if there will be more 1TB drives.
