Hey guys, I need help picking out a new monitor to replace my 22" dell ultrasharp display. I really love apple's monitors but way to expensive and idk if it would fit my current setup. I had my eyes set on this one http://www.samsung.c...A650SEZ/ZC-spec but I understand that IPS monitors are the best type and this samsung display is a MVA type. I just want something that looks strong and solid and looks professional displays good viewing angles and colors.

Consider one of the Korean WQHD monitors on eBay (just search WQHD on eBay). $290 shipped gets you a 27" IPS monitor with 2560x1440 resolution. The downsides are: non-U.S. warranty, possible dead pixels, flimsy stand, Dual-Link DVI is the only input option, making them unusable on laptops without a $100 DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI adapter and that won't even work on many consumer laptops that don't have DisplayPort.

A step up from those is $400+tax at MicroCenter gets you a U.S. warranty and extra input options (VGA, DisplayPort, HDMI) so it can be used with laptops.

2560x1440 (or 2560x1600) monitors are amazing and after using one you won't want to go back to 1920x1080 as it just feels so small and limited.

Dell Ultrasharp, of course. I'd recommend the U2410 as that's what I have as my primary and I love it.

That sounds liek a good investment.. I'm just worried if it could get damaged from shipping..

I was looking into this monitor but Im not sure if I like the fact that its 1920x1080 for a 27" monitor

no. that's just ridiculous consumer bullcrap. 1080p on a 24" is already pushing it, on a 27" it will look like ****. stick with the UltraSharps.

I had a Dell U2410 but the anti-glare coating negatively impacts upon the image quality and I had a slight colour shift across the horizontal plane, which is apparently quite common. When I upgraded to the Hazro HZ30Wie the improvement in image quality was huge (ignoring the size difference) and it's noticeably better for gaming due to the lower input lag and faster response time - it's also LED backlit, so it turns on noticeably quicker and doesn't have as much backlight bleed (the U2410 suffers much more with this). You can get a 27" 2560x1440 Hazro HZ27WB for less than the cost of the U2410. Quite a few Korean manufacturers offer similar panels.

The Dell U2410 was great for its time but its pretty dated now. It's also held back by the resolution being only 1920x1200, as 2560x1440 / 2560x1600 offers a lot more real estate for productivity - I wouldn't go back.

But I cant fine a site where Hazro HZ27WB are shipped to the US I was highly considering buy one in the past but I dont know who would ship it to the US

I like my Mitsubishi 40" LED TV/Monitor. . .16:9 (1920 X 1080). For my old eyes it is perfect, and the graphics are very good. Also viewing video streaming is wonderful.

Despite the review, the monitor is just beautiful and picture quality is great once u calibrated

Bummer. I had a look at a few US websites but you don't seem to have the same selection of monitors over there, certainly not in the same price range. As for shipping to the US, I'd advise against it because it would be really problematic if you have a faulty monitor or an excessive number of defective pixels. The first monitor I ordered had a cluster of dead pixels, so I had to return it and get another.

The problem is the pixel density is very low, so you get the same resolution spread over a larger area. That monitor is only 82PPI, in comparison to your current monitor which is 96PPI and the 109PPI of the 27" Hazro I linked to - all of which are dwarfed by modern smart phones, which have screens between 300-450PPI. Everything on that screen would be larger but it's no better quality, which kinda defeats the point of "upgrading". It's certainly a decent monitor but you don't get any extra real-estate and the image will be less sharp.

It's pretty much impossible to get a "perfect" monitor. I love the 30" 2560x1600 display I have but it's only 60Hz, doesn't support 3D and has a higher response time than a TN-panel - it's also incredibly demanding for gaming, hence why I have two GTX680s in SLI (even then I get minor framerate drops in some games). Meanwhile TN-panels support 3D and have great response times but have poor colour reproduction and poor viewing angles, as well as maxing out at 1920x1200 (the larger monitors suffer from low pixel density). AMOLED looks like the next definitive display technology but it's incredibly expensive at this point and such displays are virtually impossible to find. It just comes down to your priorities and your budget.

If you're not big into gaming and your budget can be stretched to a 27" S-IPS 2560x1440 monitor then I'd recommend it, as that would offer the best viewing angles and colour reproduction (the criteria you list in your first post); if your budget is limited and you want to game then the monitor you listed would be a good choice. Upgrading from a 23" to a 24" seems remarkably wasteful, so you should rule that out.
