DrJohnSmitherson
Hey all! I posted some images of some hdd scans, and I think the hdd that has my c drive might be bad. Its read speed is so lowww compared to the other 2 drives. My computer is so slow!! Are there any other factors that could make the read slow, that I should check for? http://imgur.com/a/qQkvH#2 Thanks!

DrJohnSmitherson
SMART? I'm not familiar with that, but I've seen it before. Is that a type of scan?

+Warwagon MVC Posted November 16, 2012 MVC Share Posted November 16, 2012 Looks like the sector relocation count has been flagged, meaning the drive is swapping out bad sectors for good ones. May want to start backing your stuff up.
Obi-Wan Kenobi
Yep. She's dead, Jim. Better get a new HD, and soon! SMART=Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology. It's supposed to warn you if your drive is headed south...wait, why is this in bold? LOL! I'd suggest, investing in a new HDD sometime soon...and I mean SOON. DrJohnSmitherson
Well damn. Thanks guys! When I get a new drive can I clone the old one to the new one without problems?
WaveZero
I recommend you clone it now or backup your important files! The HDD won't wait for you to get a new one, it can die anytime...
DrJohnSmitherson
Everything is backed up! Backs up to internals, skydrive and mesh onto my laptop. :D I just want to verify, it WILL be safe to clone this bad hdd to a new hdd?
Arceles
Yes it will be safe... as long as you can actually clone it. My last hard drive had the same symptoms and began accumulating a lot of errors in smart, it didn't died at all but it was getting very slow, so taking a backup of my win7 partition proven to take the whole night, still after recovery it was perfect.
