I am not British, but this is really dumb. The police are inept. I mean I love how they didn't do anything to stop the riots in England a few years ago when it was all going down and they take the time to arrest this guy for feeding horses sausages (not that I would feed them sausages, but it's a stupid thing to get arrested for and it's even more stupid that the police would waste their time arresting someone for doing it).

For all the dumb things you guys think America does, this is one of the dumbest things I have read this year.

Yeah because any harm to their horse wouldn't be looked at as their fault and I'm sure the responsibility of the horse isn't theirs and it wouldn't cost anything if something bad happened such as the food being poisoned/contaminated with anything.

The riots was stupid, but that's completely different. They seemed to believe if they held off and didn't intervene that everything would turn out well and that their presence might inflame the riots into something more serious, not being able to use anything in their own defense except riot shields and batons didn't help either... of course it got worse on it's own and they ended up looking stupid. Which brings us back to the subject!

Most mounted units don't allow the feeding of their horses, it's not just a British thing. It's not just police horses you're not supposed to feed either, even feeding other peoples pets without their permission is frowned upon.

The only dumb thing here is the guy who tried to feed the horse and then be aggressive afterwards. If you want to talk about freedoms, have a look at your own being encroached upon before you blindly attack our police for telling someone not to feed their horse. There is also no freedom or law saying you can feed police horses.

Most of the time I don't agree with everything our police force does but everything you said in your post... stupid.

could have something to do with the fact Horses are "Herbivores" so eating anything with meat could have made them ill or worse considering what they tend to use in sausagerolls.

You don't get on the force over here unless you are a small minded pedant with little man syndrome. There are some exceptions of course but police are usually the most antagonistic, overtly aggressive people you will meet on British streets.

The CPS is also a ridiculous entity which just fuels the levels of distrust the public have of their police force and criminal justice system. As a result the police are seen as glorified traffic wardens with a superiority complex.

Misleading headline in that article. Clearly he didn't go on trial for feeding a police horse food, he's on trial for his threatening behaviour.
