However terrible it may be for the loss of jobs. I'm not at a loss for the food themselves. That won't stop me from stocking up on a one last taste before there gone. I haven't had a twinkie in years, no better time then now.

I wonder if the union could back down and save the company?

The time of unions has passed. Obama bailed out GM and the US lost 25 million on the stock. A 500 Billion dollar bailout and each GM Union worker gets a $6,000.00 bonus. This is rather disgusting.

"The Irving, Texas-based company has more than 19,000 workers and operates in 49 states and Canada..."

I learned about it via my Facebook feed. A bunch of fat chicks were complaining about it. They were saying how "they LOVE Twinkies and now they are going to be totally lost." ... or weigh a little less.

Oh, you know, they could have started cutting from the top to bottom instead of the other way around.

But these 18,000+ people are better off not working is such a disgrace for a company. So long Hostess, no one will miss you.

Even the teamsters union that had over 8000 employees at Hostess thought the Bakers Union strike was a bad idea. They had attempted to get the Bakers Union to allow their members to cast secret ballots on the contract but they would not. They insisted on in-person voice voting.

There was a report on TV on CTV news this morning that said there's no effect on Canadian operations.

Don't know if anyone remembers this but, the first time this happened back in the early 2000s, boxes of Twinkies were on eBay for well over $1,000.... and selling.

No need to stock up, Twinkies are not going anywhere. They'll continue to be produced and sold by whichever company buys them.

Hostess is licensed in Canada by Weston's and another company.

hostess brand is not going anywhere.... durrr. someone else will pick up the brand.
