Lion Messages Beta ending 14th December

Recommended Posts

Got an email from apple earlier;

The Messages Beta program for Lion will end on Friday, December 14, 2012. We hope you've enjoyed the opportunity to preview Messages.

If you'd like to continue using Messages, upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion from the Mac App Store. Messages is one of many great new apps and features built right into OS X Mountain Lion. Learn More.

Thank you for your participation in the Messages Beta program.

Quite disappointed that they are making it mountain lion only really. Might have a read up and see if it's client side that does the checking and if so see if I can change to 2020 or something.

Ah well, typical apple.

I also don't see why Messages has to ML only, Apple could of easily rolled out an iCloud upgrade to literally any version of OSX and included messages. Or allowed people to get it from the app store for ?0.99 (like facetime for Snow Leopard)

They want people to upgrade. It's like Microsoft making people update to Windows 8 to update their Direct X. (I know it's a different level of comparing subjects, but overall is the same foundation of making users have the newest software (OS) available).

When the preview was out on Lion , Apple made it amply clear that it will be available on Lion for a limited period only.

Yeah they did, I remember some website decompiled it and it said it'd be ending in july, when it didn't end I was happy thinking they've chosen not to be ***** and allow it to work on lion but guess I was wrong...

Being honest I'm kinda glad in a way it's ended, now I can get rid of the POS macbook I've got as it no longer serves any purpose at all! Got a 10.8 hackintosh vm that works for messages so I'll just be using that, apple's done me a favour.
