hello post, when I decided to create a second one to find out what happened. Unfortunately, neowin had put my banned account in a limo like state where in I couldn't do anything; couldn't even sign out. Using ccleaner I managed to flush out my cookies + browser cache and was finally signed out. Created another account and the helpful mod here sorted out everything quickly and decided to un ban my original account and ban the second account. Now, I didn't sign out of my second account quick enough and was again stuck in account limbo. Again ccleaner to the rescue and I was able to successfully sign in to my first account. Phew!
Enough complaining! My first day as a neowin member was certainly eventful.
