I am planning on getting a blackwidow key board. I've been needing to upgrade my current keyboard, and the black widow looks nice, and also mechanical, which i think will be a huge improvement from what i have now.

However i'm confused about the difference between the two versions. There is a $30 difference, so if the previous model is pretty much the same then i'll go with it.

What i notice is the newer 2013 version has a green blacklit instead of blue in the previous model. I actually prefer the blue to the green.

Besides that the only other thing i notice is different is the newer one has a matte finnish, while the older one is glossy. But thats about it.

so if those are the only two differences then i'll just save $30 and get the previous model, due to the color being more attractive, and i don't care too much about finger prints.

Original $99

the 2013 version $129

Does anyone know of any other difference between the two? I plan on ordering one later on today.

thanks

The one thing I've learned about Razer is how crap the quality is. My brother has gone through 3 different ones over 2 years. Stuff like left or right buttons triple clicking, sensor issues and one just randomly died all together.

Mean I have a R.A.T 7 which is doing me well and before that was a Logitech MX510 which lasted me for nearly 5 years (before I switched because I wanted a different mouse).

Some of the keys have different symbols - F8, F9, F10 and AltGr are visibly different. It doesn't look like there are any major differences.

As for Razer, my wireless Mamba is still going strong and I've had it for years.

The current Razer product i have is the Razer Naga Epic, and it works great. Had it for almost a year now without a single problem hardware wise, but their software is pure crap, especially the new synapse or whatever they call it. So i use older drivers.

So i guess for $30 more you don't gain much.
