To be fair a lot of that slowness is due to Facebook.

In fact.... I think you can definitely see the culprit here. Neowins code is actually quite quick.

Usually when the site is loading slow ish, it's google that's in the status bar holding it up, google and their stats crap.

...I've never noticed this, even when I'm using the near-death computers at work.

Define slow

I know we had some issues past 2 months but those should have been fixed 2 weeks ago. Plus alexa stats you can take for a grain of salt.

Well I've randomly, for the past 2-3 months up to yesterday, hiccups, pages don't load, post don't go through, "edit" post won't open, etc.

Theres two types of slow, the actually site itself being slow (huge images, javascript, flash etc), and then network/performance issues.

Also the facebook stuff while it does hold up the loading of the site, most people have those cached, so its not too bad. But our ad providers sure do loooove to put in a ton of js crap :(

Just do a google pagespeed test on the main page you'll see what i mean.

I don't use anything related to Facebook and from time to time the site feels quite slow but it's mostly related to posting in the forums.

Well can't really compare the main page to ipb, one is optimized the other is bloated mess sadly. Hopefully things improve soon on that front.

Most I've ever heard of was about $500 per month. But it's not like he's paying $34k per month. He created a great money tree. Can't be mad at that.

Nope, IIRC it was around $5k back in 2009ish, then, neowin is owned by stardock, not neowin ;)
$500 would probably be only storage.

I use AdBlock as well. I hate those annoying ads. Adblock does the job just fine for me so I'm happy. :)
