Mirror's Edge was beloved by critics, but it didn't sell quite as well as EA was hoping. Fans have been hoping for a sequel ever since. And, according to rumor, it might just be happening.

Ben Cousins, formerly in charge of the Battlefield franchise for EA, weighed in on Twitter:

It is general knowledge in the Stockholm dev scene that Mirror's Edge 2 is in production at DICE eurogamer.net/articles/2012-?

The story he links to discusses DICE's revelation that, in addition to Battlefield 4 and DLC for Battlefield 3, they're also hard at work on other, undiscussed projects.

Our Take: While Mirror's Edge didn't sell the three million copies it was projected to, it did manage to get into solid hit territory, moving two million copies. So it's not surprising a sequel may be on the way? and welcome news, if true.'

I would love to say I'm looking forward to this, but unless something is changed with the cameras I know I won't be able to play it - the demo of the first game gave me motion sickness. :(

They need to make a few significant improvements. I think I could handle if the corridorness made a comeback, but they really need to tune up the combat so that they're not using it to herd you in a particular direction and more use it as a penalty for screwing up. They also need to fix the clipping, bumping into a wall with your shoulder should slow you down, not stop you dead.

PTT showed they understood what was good about the game and the engine, so I'm optimistic that they'll make enough improvements to make it worthwhile.

Mirror's Edge for mobile also shows some improvements, I found crouching while coming off a long drop for a roll was quite finicky in ME, meaning if you did it too early you'd have a hard landing (which is silly), but on mobile if you swipe early you still do fine.
