Windows 8 Metro Apps Hyperlinks Not Working

I have not found anyone with a fix for this problem. For many, Metro apps like Mail and now Windows Phone App do not function properly with hyperlinks. They do nothing.

Has anyone found a fix or workaround? This only appears to happen on Desktops, not Surface.
