Austrian police are hunting a sweet-toothed lorry driver who drove up to a factory at Bludenz in Vorarlberg and collected 18 tonnes of chocolate and then vanished.

According to the logistics firm that charted the lorry from Chechnya the load had been collected by a lorry driver using fake paperwork to loaded 33 pallets of chocolate bars onto his vehicle and then vanished shortly before the real lorry turned up.

According to police the first lorry had fake paperwork and the police spokesman added: "The fraudsters were very sophisticated."
