It's not JUST for the software, it's for DEVELOPERS (not the everyday public) to get their hands on the sessions from the PDC if they were unable to attend or if the people that attended would like to see it again for reference.

Did you even GO to the link?!

This DVD set will contain streaming media files and presentation slides from the breakout presentations, lunch sessions and both the Security and Architecture Symposiums.

 ...

Its for that same set of people who line up infront of Future Shop or Best Buy the morning of an M$ release trying to be the first ones to buy a retail copy of a piece of sotware, that every beta tester and IRC user has had for over a year.

Its not the software DVD, its videos and such from the conference.

On the other hand:

"Active MSDN Operating Systems, Professional, Enterprise, and Universal

subscribers may request a set of software distributed at the Microsoft

Professional Developers Conference 2003 (PDC), including the preview

versions of the "Longhorn" operating system and SDK, and Visual Studio

"Whidbey". "

I wonder if that includes the Academic OS subscription ($199). I'd pay $199 for Longhorn + all other versions of Windows...
