Both OS's are going to give you pretty much the same performance, just use which one you like. I use Windows 8 at home. Having said that, I still to this day have trouble running Games for Windows games on Windows 8 (Fable 3 for instance).

Dual boot win 7 and 8. I do, just I find win 8 easier to work with now. So I don't use 7 so much if at all. Haven't had a reason to use 7 lately.

For me, I use Windows 8 because Battlefield 1942 (old as hell) doesn't crash. It has crashed for me with some regularity on every OS since it's release until 8. It doesn't make much sense, I'll admit, but Windows 8 runs it better than every other OS i've tried.

I wouldt use Win 8 until service pack 1 comes around, its pretty buggy right now, 7 has been around longer, and is far more stable

Def. use Windows 7 until Windows 8 is fully supported on every game.

One day, I will get new computer with Windows 7 64-bit with 8GB RAM memory, so I can play star wars: the old republic often. :-) Windows Vista has problem with Star Wars and it crashed often.

Did WIN8 resolve the issue with the hot corners on games outside of metro?

Yes, thankfully that issue was fixed prior to its release. That was a highly aggravating bug during beta.

Very little in it. I personally think the drivers for 7 are still a bit more stable at this moment in time but 8 will get there soon enough. As both are about equal for gaming, decide which feature set and UI you prefer and decide accordingly.

They might be equal for gaming now, but there are going to be WinRT games coming out that you can't play on 7.

Not much to speak of yet, but Skulls of the Shogun looks interesting.

If now is all you're concerned about, 7 works.

Windows 8 works splendid for me, but stick to Windows 7 for compatibility

No crashes using BF1942 on any of my Windows 7 (recommended) computers, whatosever.
