IceBreakerG
I just got my Windows 8 Pro upgrade today and decided to upgrade my copy of Windows 7 Ultimate x64 on my 2010 MacBook Pro. The upgrade mostly went ok, minus a few driver issues (display drivers needed to be reinstalled). The first thing I noticed though was that the touchpad did not work at all. After a couple hours searching, I found this site: http://advicesmedia....-pro-boot-camp/ The solution offered here does "work", but it's definitely not the desirable fix. Does anyone else have a MacBook Pro with Windows 8 installed with a working touchpad? If so, did you have any issues, and if you did, how did you get them fixed? Overall, Windows 8 runs very well on here, but the touchpad issue is a major problem since I can't have my backup mouse plugged in all the time. Edit: Forgot to mention that I tried repairing the bootcamp drivers as well, and this did not fix the issue. The screen overlays for the screen brightness and volume don't work either so if anyone has a fix for that, that would also help. Thanks.
remixedcat
still problematic in, parellels, or vmware?
Manarift
Apple might have to fix the drivers for it on bootcamp
123456789A
My touchpad didn't work either. Running Windows 7 on my McBook 2011 for now. What OS X version do you have?
DirtyLarry Veteran Posted November 29, 2012 Veteran Share Posted November 29, 2012 Yeah unfortunately this is a known issue, just google it and a whole lot of articles come up saying how it does not work right now. Gizmodo No trackpad gestures. No two-finger scrolling, no right-clicking. Just dragging and tapping. This makes navigating Windows 8 (and everything in it) laborious and full of suck?the opposite of what it is when working properly. I tried installing some custom drivers I found online and it cranked up my CPU usage so high I thought Mayor Bloomberg was going to declare a state of emergency. Techrepublic Until Apple releases Boot Camp drivers for Windows 8, you?ll need an external mouse for right-clicking. When the touch aspects of Windows 8 are taken into account, what is needed to make good use of Microsoft?s operating system is a track pad that recognises multi-fingered swipes and gestures. You?re not going to find that at this moment with Apple hardware. Another issue is that Windows can only engage the MacBook?s Nvidia graphics card, not the on-board Intel chipset that OS X will use to extend battery life. This is why I have held off until Apple hopefully remedies the situation with Bootcamp.
IceBreakerG
@remixedcat: I'm only running it natively. I haven't had good luck with parallels or vmware in the past. @Enron: I'm running OS X 10.8.2 at the moment. @DirtyLarry: Thanks for the links. This is definitely of the suck. Granted, the video card thing was the same for Windows 7 too. You couldn't switch between the Intel iGPU and the nVidia GPU. That only worked in OS X. At this point I'm almost positive Apple isn't in a rush to get new bootcamp drivers out though, which sucks, because I do like how well Windows 8 runs on my mbp. It runs just as well, if not better, than Windows 7 did.

thejohnnyq
I got one and everything works except the screen brightness control. I even did one for a friend. No issues or problems, OS X Lion and Windows 8. I used boot camp to build the driver disk for windows then did the install.
fpm2001
Usually doing an upgrade causes issues. I suggest for you to do a Clean installation. It worked for me.
