How would you describe the mannerisms that Jony Ives uses when he appears in the Apple videos such as the one below?

I ask because we hired a new UX guy at our company who talks just like him, using the same mannerisms. Are all UX people like Jony Ives?

I'm a lead UX/UI designer and I can assure you, we're not all like that :p That said, I am English and I do talk similar accent wise, but that's about it :D

He is an inspirational designer though. Him and his team. You have to look beyond the things most people would do when it comes to designing an interface. It's not just about the look but far deeper than that. I constantly learn from new design developments and I constantly toy with the implementation of what I would say is good design. I work from 10:30am through til maybe 2 or 3am most days because my work consumes much of my existence. I wouldn't have it any other way, I love what I do.

No, not everyone is like him mannerism-wise.

And slightly off topic: I love that man.

This kind of love is what gives Apple their cultist label.

Probably, but what people think of Apple is not really my business. I can appraise the work of Ive because he really does a great job at designing. That people turn Apple into a cult, that is not my problem. I give credits where it is due, and critic when necessary.

This.

Don't bother with haters, overly distancing behavior and such things.

Think for yourself and if you think that someone is inspiring you, then let him.
