I have had a iPhone since iPhone 3 and have a 4s now, I have to say I am getting so sick of iPhones. They really haven't changed much and I want something different. CoLdFuSi0n Posted December 1, 2012 Author Share Posted December 1, 2012 I'm debating between the S3 or the lumina 920. My wife has a 920 and she loves it but I'm not to sure yet. My only problem is that I work for on the oil rigs and the company I work for wants us to use iPhones or iPads cause of their app software they use. But I want to get rid of mine badly. KRazpopov Posted December 1, 2012 Share Posted December 1, 2012 On the outside, it might look quite similar, but Android's a much more open system than iOS, or for that matter Windows Phone. The amount of customization behind it is unmatched, even when compared to a jailbroken iPhone. If you want to be able to tweak the OS, then definitely get an Android, but if you're intending to stay with the stock experience, go for Windows Phone. Paul Ferson Veteran Posted December 2, 2012 Veteran Share Posted December 2, 2012 The Nexus 4 is an obvious suggestion but there are those stories of the glass back cracking easily. Other than that it seems like it'd be a good Android choice, and with it being a Nexus, you can guarantee there'll be support for the foreseeable future. I'd be inclined to say the Droid DNA as well, but with you being in Canada I imagine that's not going to work out. It seems you can use a Droid DNA with a Rogers SIM card but if they're only sold in the United States getting one in Canada is probably a challenge. If you didn't mind owning an LG-branded device, then the Optimus G might be a nice choice. Samsung's flagships are probably also worth considering, since they've got a decent bit of support behind them and are apparently easy enough to flash if you're not sold on TouchWiz. When it comes to Windows Phone 8 handsets, I guess you could have your pick and choice. All of the big hitters seem like good enough options but it depends how much you'd like to spend. HTC's 8S looks nice but the 8X has the better specifications so if you're looking for a powerhouse more than something good looking, it seems like it'd make more sense to go for the 8X.
