Quase Nada
It uses to much HD space, so I'm going to uninstall it (I have a 20GB with 2 partitions, one with XP and another to keep files, but LH is using 3GB of 9GB) This is a promising OS, and after testing it I understand why it'll be released only in 2005 (2006 I'm not sure). MS has a lot to work on it. Edited October 31, 2003 by Quase Nada
MulletRobZ
Not bad, but I'm ticked off about how MS stole the pop-up blocking and download manager idea from Mozilla. Also, the memory leak needs to be fixed. Meanwhile, this is far more stable than I predicted for a pre-beta version. ;) This may be promising, but Linux will be contacted so they can figure out how to outdo MS before LH is released. joe.flores
Last I remember, IE used to have a DL manager and it just disappeared. Course that could have been in my Mac days  At any rate, if MS stole the Pop-Up Blocker idea from Mozilla, then were did Google get it from? I was impressed with LH 4051 considerint it was a pre-beta. It seems fine to me. After following a guide... [http://69.50.228.116/Chris123NT/PDC_4051/LHGuide.html] to tweak a few of the memory leaks and disable a few services that weren't needed, it seemed a bit better. Nonetheless, I removed it to give me more anticipation to see what the next major build will be like. I may even bypass the intermittent builds so that when Beta 1 or 2 comes out it will be worth checking it, as I assume it will have more improvements and features to start working with. I do agree that it is a promising conceptual OS at this point and I hope they really work to make this as great of a release as XP was. I remember working for MS during the Whistler initial builds. It was SO different than the final release, and interesting to be able to see it from an internal perspective. I think the idea of Castles for networking will be great for home networks and small business that want to network internally, share high-speed internet, and not have to pay a load of cash for a domain controller and the respectively needed licenses to get it all up and running.
tom5
Restart after every boot with my DSL modem connected, so not a reason to like this :) This OS is due 2006 so what we are seeing is a pre-pre-pre-pra-pre-pre-alpha ;).

Roger H. Veteran Posted November 2, 2003 Veteran Share Posted November 2, 2003 hehe.. yes please... go on ;) I've been using it as default OS for days and have found lil probs here and there (besides from the big obvious ones) The one that's really erking me now is that the sound stops playing sometimes and i gotta reboot. WMP will continue playing but no sound from the speakers even though they were playing before... I used the same drivers in XP so i know it's not those but then again it could be those not properly written for LH but LH isn't that much different from XP now anyways... oh well.. it's a pre-alpha so no complaints here. raid517
Well if I could work out why I only have 4 bit colour in VMWARE I would give you my view. There's no way I'm installing an Alpha OS on my real computer. Unfortunately I can't work it out. Q
WigglesTheFish
i tried it for a day, didn't like it at all (knowing its an alpha)... went back to xp...

entropyx
mozilla 'stole' the idea from the companies who have made popup blockers for years then. everyone who wants to be successful is going to have to integrate popup blocking. its the only smart thing to do.
