What Was Your Very First Cellphone?

You mean after the car phone?

In case any of you youngsters had no idea where Carphone Warehouse got its name ;)

My first real mobile phone was a Samsung SPH-N240. This baby was so small and awesome, I'd still use it if it had any features I wanted. It doesn't even support text messaging, which was the only reason I upgraded at the time (like 10 years ago at least):

This phone is a little over 4 inches tall, 1.5 inches wide, and 0.7 inches thick, and the screen boasts a whopping 128 x 64 monochrome display with a beautiful blue backlight. Battery life was like, two weeks  I still have it in a drawer somewhere!

Sony Ericsson J210i. I had internet and email on it, can you imagine!

After that Sony Ericsson K320i

Then Sony Ericsson G705 (which had push mail, Exchange ActiveSync, GPS, WiFi, , HSPA, apps: Gmail, Opera Mini, Facebook, Twitter, ... - I loved this one, and that was in 2008 you know!)

Then Sony Ericsson Elm

Then a Sony Ericsson Xperia X8 (only for a few days, after which I went back to the Elm for a month or two)

Then my first proper Android: Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo

Then I won a Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S in january this year

Then I purchased a Sony Xperia S a month or two later (really pretty phone, still have it)

And two weeks ago I received my Sony Xperia T that I just won on Twitter:

I also have a Sony Vaio, a Sony Walkman, two sets of expensive Sony Earbuds, a Sony compact camera and a Sony DSLR. At home our family has a Sony TV (only TV) and a Sony HiFi system.

I might have issues.

I think it was this phone. The Qualcomm QCP 2700.

Yes I used to have one of these back when Celullar One was the biggest provider in Puerto Rico.

Nope!

Well I have a student job at The Phone House (= Belgian branch of Carphone Warehouse PLC, largest mobile retailer in Europe) so I have seen a lot of phones and I can pretty much find my way around any phone. But I think Sony has always had pretty much the best features/price ratio you could ever get, their phones look good (easily distinguishable from other brands), their interfaces are really good, especially the featurephone ones.

But yes, I love Sony. I really want to go work there, hence the software development studies focusing on Android development + me wanting to go study in Sweden for half a year (Sony Mobile's Android development is mostly located there).

Cant argue with that, some days ago I was at my provider's shop deciding between an xperia s and my current htc one x. The xperia has one of the best designs I've seen, both phones where a beauty. But I decided for the htc because the xperia came with android 2.3 and because it was $200 cheaper. 'Surely there is something wrong with it at that price' I thought.

Hah. I hope you do know the Xperia S has had the update to Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4) available since june now :p and Jelly Bean is imminent.

If the network is regular GSM you can flash the Xperia's to European firmware without data loss, warranty loss or any issues ;) but the One X is really good and still faster than the S.

I wish I could find an image of it. I probably still have it around here somewhere if I didn't throw it away.

It was a Verizon Wireless LG flip phone back in 2005. I can't find the model number anywhere. Wish I could find a picture but I'm all Google-foo'd out. I can't remember if the phone had a camer but I don't think it did...maybe. I know it didn't have a screen on the front for time/text messages.

When searching for the model number I found some old Verizon bills in my email. $55/month for a very basic 450min and I think 200txt plan. Glad to know that my bill is substantially less, and my plan substantially better with StraightTalk today.

Kids these days... I went through all of college and graduated without owning a cell phone. Now it is like the majority of middle schoolers have them.

Yeah, well a long time ago you basically had to be rich, well have a damn good job just to be able to buy one, let alone pay for time.

Nowadays a young kid can go to pretty much any store and buy a pretty good cellphone on what they'd earn a night babysitting or some other odd job, and even buy time with their allowances, etc. etc.
