Which computer case?

Recommended Posts

Hi all

You may have seen my thread about a new system which i'm building ( https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1123442-ive-finally-upgraded-my-system/ )

My intention is to put my old hardware in to another case and give it to my parents (still a pretty decent spec for what they'll need it for to be honest), but i'm unsure which case i need.

The hardware which will be going into the new case is as follows:

Asus P5Q SE Motherboard

Intel e8400 CPU

Asus Silent Knight CPU Cooler (or i might just put a stock Intel one in there seeing as though they won't be hammering it with games)

Corsair HX620 PSU

Nvidia 8800GT GPU

If i'm honest...i don't know which type of case i need to buy. My worry is that i'll buy one which doesn't fit the PSU, or the screw holes for the MoBo will be in the wrong place etc. (for those who haven't already guessed...my hardware knowledge is pretty low at the moment)

Can anyone recommend a case from the following site which will be suitable for the hardware listed above?

http://www.ebuyer.com/store/Components/cat/Computer-Cases

If it helps, the hardware listed above has been used in an Antec P182 case for the last 4 or so years.

Many thanks to anyone who has the time and knowledge to help me out with this one :)

You should be alright with any case, really - I would check the measurements of the ASUS Silent Knight CPU cooler as that will most likely be the main hindrance if the case isn't deep enough. I had that issue with my Akasa Venom CPU Cooler on my Q6700/Q8400

As long as the case isn't designed for mATX motherboards (micro ATX) you will be cool.

I'm sure a few more people with a bit of time on their hands will be able to recommend you a huge plethora of cases :)

I should have mentioned that i was looking for a case at the cheaper and of the price bracket, but now that i have some more info...i think i should be able to find something suitable.

Thanks again

CoolerMaster make good looking and very strong cases

Knocked mine off the desk (About 1m high) when I was drunk and fun fighting and it landed on its head, apart from slightly misshaped HDD shelves, everything survived 100%, it was turned on at the time and all HDDs were fine
