An Englishman, a Frenchman, a Spaniard and a German are all standing watching a street performer do some excellent juggling.

The juggler notices that the four gentlemen have a very poor view, so he stands up on a large wooden box and calls out, “Can you all see me now?”

“Yes.”

“Oui.”

“Sí.”

“Ja.”

ja isn't pronounced like ya . I wouldn't care if it was a good joke, but it isn't so I'm allow to ruin it further anyway

"Ja" IS pronounced like "ya"! "Ja" means yes and is pronounced exactly the same in German and In Afrikaans and probably the same in Flemish. How else would you pronounce "ya"? The same as "ja" as far as I am concerned.
