MarkusDarkus
OK. I need to make sure I'm not being Trolled by the Internet. Recently I've been having massive cravings for anything with peanuts in it and Dr Pepper, so much so I decided to Google it to see if my body was trying to tell me something and then I cam across a Texan tradition of putting salted peanuts in Dr Pepper or in Coke. Do people actually do this!!! Is this real?, And how can it taste nice. I wanna try it because I'm for trying anything at least once but I cannot imagine this tasting nice at all. Nick H. Supervisor Posted December 11, 2012 Supervisor Share Posted December 11, 2012 I guess it works. Think about it, when you're at the bar they have salted peanuts and you have your drink, and you will have some nuts and then take a drink. Why not remove the middle step and just have an all-in-one type drink? Although I'm not sure if a peanut gets soggy or if it would retain its crunchiness, so maybe it wouldn't be so great... EDIT: thechronic...wow, my mind has just been blown. And they plan on turning it in to a feature film?
.bin
My brother used to dip fries into Coca Cola and then eat the fries. I don't think he still does this but he thought it was the best thing since sliced bread.
cork1958
The salt on the peanuts will make the pop flatter than crap and the pop will taste the same!! Otherwise, make sure they're unsalted nuts, which taste like crap also. As Intrinsica kind of hit on, some people put salt in their beer to reduce the fizz/carbonation. Nick H. Supervisor Posted December 11, 2012 Supervisor Share Posted December 11, 2012 As Intrinsica kind of hit on, some people put salt in their beer to reduce the fizz/carbonation. Actually I wasn't going for that at all, I had no idea salt would reduce the fizz!

MarkusDarkus
 Some of these answers are great. But the salt making the pop flat. Hmm. I think I might not hurry to try this one.
Growled Member Posted December 12, 2012 Member Share Posted December 12, 2012 Do people actually do this!!! It's not something I do regularly, but I do it. I don't like Dr. Pepper, though. I put them in my Pepsi.
Reisen
I like Dr. Pepper, but I probably wouldn't put peanuts in it.

Glassed Silver
Boiling seawater. Might hurt (and potentially kill) a little, still very delicious though! It'd be a sweet death for sure! Glassed Silver:mac
Twiddle
I like to dump an entire pack of skittles into a large glass of milk, stir it up, then let it sit for about 5 minutes. The milk tastes like skittles, and you can even eat them at the bottom once you are finished with the milk, though, they are generally really hard, so it may be difficult. Also, I don't drink soda hardly at all, but when I do; Barq's Root Beer. Mmmm. :)
Joshie
Also, I don't drink soda hardly at all, but when I do; Barq's Root Beer. Mmmm. :) +10 for not spelling it with a 'g'. Yes. People do that.
Twiddle
+10 for not spelling it with a 'g'. Yes. People do that. They do? Lol. I googled "barg's" and sure enough, people do. How in the world do they mistake that 'q' for a 'g'? The "swoosh" goes backwards in the letter! Not everyone paid attention in cursive handwriting lessons I see. ClassicTrekker
When I read the title of this thread, I suddenly got Barbara Mandrell's I Was Country (When Country Wasn't Cool) in my head: "I remember when no one was lookin', I was puttin' peanuts in my Coke..." So some people do it. :)

Yusuf M. Veteran Posted December 12, 2012 Veteran Share Posted December 12, 2012 I thought this was very bizarre at first but I researched it. Apparently, it's a "Southern tradition". I just watched a video of someone drinking it on YouTube and I'm interested in trying it. Start watching it at 9m20s. Alera 1 Share
Dan~
How strange, I'm not a fan of Dr Pepper, I burp something wrotten for ages, coke and other fizzy stuff is fine just Dr Pepper, still tastes amazing though. But I do prefer Ammeretto & Coke, taste like Dr Pepper, just alcoholic!
