Perhaps we're showing our age, (Not sure how old you are?) but for those that don't know what we are going on about, the person that immediately came to mind was L. Ron Hubbard. He wrote pretty famous books like Battlfield Earth and Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health. He also started that most insidious of "religions" called Scientology!

It crossed my mind too, but I think he died something on the lines of 20 years ago. Other people here probably realized the same thing.
