'Huge amount of cannabis' waiting for owner to collect

Recommended Posts

Days have passed since the Twitter account of one of West Midlands police neighbourhood units made it known that it had found some lost property and invited the owner to come forward to collect it - an announcement that has now been re-tweeted more than 19,000 times.

But given the nature of the item in question, "a huge amount of cannabis", it's perhaps unsurprising that the owner appears to be more than a little reticent about taking up the offer from Solihull police.

"Anyone lost a huge amount of cannabis in the Chelmsley Wood area? Don't panic, we found it. Please come to the police station to collect it." @SolihullPolice tweeted on December 7, sparking much mirth among Twitter users.

is this real?

A police force with a sense of humour!? no way!

I'm not surprised that they expected a response, stranger (dumber) things have happened! It's both comical and a last resort to reel in a dumbass.

This is a good example of a police force properly using twitter.

Twitter can make organisations/business seem more human/real to people.

Like the british PM joining twitter, except he did it wrong.

People underestimate the power of social media, these guys however have got it down to a T
