Fulfilment of Round 2 of Nexus 4 Orders in UK on Google Play shambolic

Many people that have ordered a Nexus 4 in the UK are absolutely outraged at Google's handling of the situation so far. All orders made when 'round 2' of the device's availability on the Google Play store were allocated an estimated delivery time of 3-5 days, 1-2 weeks, etc. Those given a 3-5 delivery estimate have yet to receive any notification of shipment, with Google Play Customer Services now claiming devices could take 3-5 weeks to deliver, leaving many who had bought these devices as Christmas presents high and dry.

People have taken to contacting the Dan Cobley, MD of Google UK and Ireland via his Google Plus profile which has so far led to the following response:

Dear all.

Thanks for your patience and my profuse apologies again for the poor service you have all received. I agree that this is not how we should be communicating with our customers.

I am still waiting for an answer from the team that I think is good enough to share. I hope to get that and share it tomorrow.

A site has also been set-up with an open letter to Google to ask what is going on, when people are likely to have their orders fulfilled and why their Google Plus Customer Care is so ill-informed. The site allows customers to register themselves on a petition to express their experience with Google in trying to obtain a Nexus 4.

One thing with google (that I've learnt from using their various business services over the years): When their stuff works, they're brilliant - when things go wrong, however, their support is absolutely atrocious (probably the worst out of all of the big players).

I have just ordered the Nexus 4 and the iPhone 5 and I expect my iPhone 5 next week, while I'm told the Nexus 4 will take 4 to 6 weeks ! :/ I'm REALLY unhappy ... but hey. I need the Nexus 4 for my development work. Grrrr...

I decided to just cancel my order with Google and bought it from cpw, albeit paying ?100 more. Least I'll definitely have it in my hands soon.
