BEIJING (AP) ? Chinese authorities have arrested a legislator found to have four wives.

A district official in the northern province of Shanxi said Li Junwen also had 10 children, and had been detained on suspicion of document forgery. Bigamy is a criminal offense in China, while rules restrict most couples to just one child.

Another 14 people were sacked or given warnings or demotions for negligence or helping Li arrange identity documents for his illegitimate children, said the official reached by phone at the Xiaodian district party committee in the provincial capital of Taiyuan.

The 43-year-old Li had been an appointed representative from Xiaodian and the Communist Party head of the village of Xiquan.

The allegations against Li have been featured prominently in state media as part of an anti-corruption drive.

Come on guys, some Chinese eat dog, the majority do not. There are forced abortions, but there are also many other "illegal" kids that the parents just end up paying the fines to keep. Remember, China's a pretty big country, land wise. It's no better to paint them with one brush than it is any other country, big or small.

In China, if you have more than 1 child, you just have to pay more and dont get government benefits, they dont kill/eat them sheesh

Was about to say the same thing. I don't know where/when/how people get that stupid idea that the government will kill extra kids you have.
