Which of these two Dell laptops would you choose and why?

Dell Inspiron 15R (?611)

Intel Core i7-3632QM (#27)

AMD Radeon HD 7670M (#136)

1TB hard drive

8GB RAM

15" screen (1366x768)

2.7 KG/6 lbs

Dell Inspiron 17R SE (?629)

Intel Core i5-3210 (#57)

NVIDIA GeForce 650M (#62)

1TB hard drive

6GB RAM

17" screen (1920x1080)

3.2 KG/7.2 lbs

Has space for 2nd HDD, so can buy an SSD to use as a boot drive

I am a gamer, but I have a PC for 99% of my gaming, so this won't sway my decision too much.

I just can't decide!

If you actually plan on using the laptop screen, go with the 17R unless you can get a better resolution panel on the 15R. You won't run into the issue of dialog boxes that are bigger than the display area.

Need to know more about your usage and personal tastes. I, personally, had a 17" laptop once and would never own one again simply because I thought it was too big. However I would also never buy a 15" display that was only 1366x768.

Spec-wise the 15R looks a little better, though you could add more RAM to the 17 I suppose.

For me, with greater importance on gaming, I choose the 15" Dell.

But for primary non-gaming, 17" should be fine.

if you want to carry it around go for 15". If it is not for games only and you want to carry it around alot I'd go for an ultrabook.

I was about to buy the 15R SE but have now ordered a Lenovo y580 which offers alot more value. There is a 15" Model with full hd which is about the same price. From ebay you can get a drive caddy to add a 2nd harddrive or you can just get an msata drive..

If your not gaming on it, go for something even cheaper. The less you try to multitask it (oh some gaming, etc) the cheaper you can go. Then take the savings to upgrade your gaming rig.

I would avoid the 15" simply because I think 1366x768 is way too low of a screen resolution. Even my laptop from 6 years ago is rocking 1680x1050. This race to the bottom as far as screen resolutions & quality go is really disappointing.

I'd go for 17.. 2 Reasons; bigger screen and space for an ssd which would outway the better cpu and ram speedwise for day to day stuff.
