What is the minimum hardware required to build a PC?

Seems like it would be: -

Case
Motherboard
CPU + cooler
RAM
PSU
Fans
Drive

Anything else?

Thanks :)

By drive do you mean a HDD? or DVD Drive? Having both of those would be a good idea.

Windows 8.

HDD yeah. I honestly haven't used the DVD drive on my current PC in over a year so probably wouldn't need one, but if they're cheap enough I'd probably get one for completeness.

I don't think I would, mainly use my PC for browsing. I watch YouTube sometimes but never game on it.

DVD burners are about $20 now (at least in Canada). I'd buy one just for convenience sake.

If my days in college have taught me anything it's that "case" is not a required component.

Maybe some thermal paste to put between the cooler and the CPU.
