neuroticdave Posted December 17, 2012 Share Posted December 17, 2012 I recently purchased an Acer Ultrabook (M5 model) from Best Buy. It came preinstalled with Windows 8, and I would like to downgrade to Windows 7. However, when I put in my Win7 CD, it tells me that "Windows can't be installed on this disk.......GTP format" (Or something along those lines). How can I overcome this road block? I have all the Windows 7 drivers for my model laptop, but this is my only hurdle to overcome. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Judging by your comments, I'd say the issue is that your new system is UEFI and the disk is formatted GPT rather than MBR. Windows 7 can support GPT, but being that I've never installed it via UEFI or on a GPT disk, I'm not exactly sure how to help you. I'd suggest using UEFI and GPT if your system supports it rather than just repartitioning it back to MBR, but someone else will have to help you out on how, or perhaps I've given you some useful information to search for.
