dlf
1. The phone issue first . . . my Android HTC sprint has somehow decided to put icons on the home screen that I NEVER put on there and would NEVER decide to put on there - poker icons, gambling icons, expedia, etc. How can I stop this? Speaking of issues, I also get AD spam at top in the notification. 2. More importantly, to the Laptop issue. My Acer 11" laptop has decided to randomly but frequently decided to just start highlighting text on the screen WITHOUT ME HOLDING down any button - just by moving the mouse. If I'm over one of the top 3 buttons on a window it either minimizes, exits, etc. I suspect I have a virus. I've tried rebooting, did nothing. I'll try a new mouse. Vinny4
Never was a fan of Acer hardware, out of all the laptops/PCs I had to fix, Most were Acer's.........followed by Dell. Is it a new laptop?

Vinny4
mmm, it maybe some dirt/dust/something that got under your keyboard/trackpad buttons, are you good with hardware? might just need a cleaning.
LUTZIFER
Do Android phones get viruses? Almost seems like both got infected. At first with the phone, I thought maybe you just swiped sideways with your finger and moved over to a different home screen, but then you mentioned the notification area. Still may be that too though. I know that Android phones do come with different icons on different screens, etc. etc. Tends to be like 5 or 7 different screens depending on the phone. Maybe check that.
dlf
Anything that can get on the internet - regardless of OS/what ever can get a virus. Every OS, every internet enabled phone, computers. Also there are anti virus aps for android phones anyway. "$5,500 Grants help - Qualified students return to school. . . ." - SPAM Ad in the notification area of my phone.
ashpowell
Uninstall all android apps and see if it still persists.. Then install your apps 1 by 1 until you find your suspect.
Detection
Android will create homescreen shortcuts to every app you install from Google Play if there is room on the screen Some apps come with crappy shortcuts to other free apps too If your Android is rooted, install 'AdFree' or 'AdAway' to remove the ads
ashpowell
There is an option in the play store to stop apps creating icons on the homescreen, untick that too
dlf
I think I might have found what was causing my computer issue. I'm using a Microsoft Sidewinder x4(4?) keyboard. Somehow the 'next track' button got assinged a macro or something.
