Cop gives ticket wrapped around $100 bill

PLANO, Texas ? A traffic stop in Plano ended in a surprise for a Texas man.

When Hayden Carlo was pulled over in Plano, in northern Texas, for expired registration, he told the officer he could not afford to pay the registration fee because times were tough.

"I said ?there's no explanation for why I haven't done it, except I don't have the money.' I said ?it was either feed my kids or get my registration done,'" he told KTVT-TV.

Carlo said the officer handed him a citation, but inside was a $100 bill.

"I broke down in my car; what else could I do?" he said.

The officer did not tell anyone about the gift, but Billy McIntire, Carlo's grandfather, wrote a letter to the police department about the officer's actions.

"I get emotional when we talk about this type of thing," he said. "You just don't find that many officers who would do this type of thing."

The money paid for the registration on both Carlo's car and his wife's, according to KHOU.

"He helped me out when I needed it, and I appreciate that. I'll never forget the man. It definitely restored my faith in God," Carlo said.

The Plano Police Department highlighted the "random act of kindness by one of our officers" on their Facebook page, but the officer did not wish to be identified. Police said they will honor him in within the department.

I'm surprised the cop wasn't sacked or something bad, generally what you hear happens after an act of kindness gets back to their work / boss

Good on the cop, very nice thing to do for xmas

What a kind act from the officer! It's nice to hear stories like this, all we get are negative incidents with cops from the media!

The militant Atheists just can't let it go, worse than Mormons if you ask me

Yeah well, we can't stand it when people have been lied to for so long that they become brainwashed into thinking unicorns are real.

Just when you start giving up on people (coming out of the gun debate thread to see this), something always sparks a little bit of faith in humanity. That officer is an amazing human being and I truly hope he has an extremely long and healthy life. If he has children, I hope they turn out just like him as the world needs more people like this.

Yes I was quoting VicRoads actually, thats why it sounds familiar. We are getting ripped off by the looks of things :-(

We are getting ripped off by every organisation here! Super Markets, Telcos, Utilities, Fuel, Car Manufacturers/Dealers and finally Incompetent Government...
